When asked if he cared where a Couture-EmeIianenko fight would take place, he said, "I care at this point that it's not in the UFC." A recent report indicated that a Couture-Emelianenko UFC fight isn't outside the realm of possibility, but Couture seems to have closed the door on that. That's why I remain skeptical that it's going to happen: UFC's lawyers are going to do everything in their power to keep it from happening, unless it happens in UFC.
If the fight does happen, Couture said he would prefer that the fight take place in the United States, and in a cage rather than in a ring. He added that he and Emelianenko respect each other, that there won't be any trash-talking leading up to their fight, and that Emelianenko even invited Couture to Russia so that they could train together.

Couture is a total gentleman. I read a lot about him at www.mmanewsdesk.com and think he's a class act and deserves the best competition.

Randy is an incredible fighter and one of the best champions MMA has ever seen. However, against Fedor, he is simply in over his head. Anyone who has watched ALL of Fedor's fights should, if they are honest, attest to the fact that he is the best MMA fighter in the world. He is THE heavyweight champion, PERIOD. But I will end this by saying this one last thing. The beauty of MMA is that NO ONE is unbeatable. Randy has the ability to beat Fedor, but the likelihood of this is slim at best.

There's simply too much bad blood between the two fighters and Dana White for this fight to happen under the UFC banner. However, if Mark Cuban loses his lawsuit and Couture has to fight twice more under his UFC contract, he will have no choice but to fight Fedor in the UFC or risk never fighting him at all. Fedor would have to sign a 1 fight deal with the UFC. They'll wait for the results of the lawsuit and then re-evaluate from there.
