UFC President Dana White is at it again. In May, we noted that UFC tried to make rival EliteXC look bad by televising a Spike show that included EliteXC's best fighter, Robbie Lawler, getting knocked out in a UFC fight.
Now UFC wants to make the rival Affliction promotion look bad before its pay-per-view debut today, so this afternoon's Spike programming includes an old UFC fight in which Jason Lambert knocked out Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Sobral is part of tonight's Affliction show.
A lot of fans don't like White's methods, but it's hard to blame him for offering exactly this kind of counter-programming. UFC's vast library includes thousands of fights, and almost every noteworthy MMA fighter in the world has lost at least once in a fight that UFC owns the broadcast rights to. That means that every fighter who fights for a rival promotion had better be ready to see himself lose on Spike.

I will never be ordering an affliction ppv event. The biggest problem with all of this is greed.afflictions notably. PPL need to realize that UFC and dana white made mma what it is today, not IFL, not Pride, affliction and certainly not trump. affliection got greedy and were probably putting their hands in too many cookie jars, and dana white got smart and banned them. Dana white and UFC hold the market on MMA for a good damn reason and they have to do what they have to do to keep it. its been their money and time making it popular. affiction and trump will offer more money to fighters so they can get the big names and they;ll get greedy and go. I however will stay with UFC..hopefully the good fighters will see that UFC is a better organzation and stay as well. I like what they do for the sport and the way they push it. I will stand behind them and hope that the sink enough money into it to over come this trump/affliction cue. They saw an opportunity and are trying to chop UFC's legs out from them. I suppport you UFC!
