Brazil's Cristiane "Cris Cyborg" Santos defeated American Shayna Baszler on tonight's EliteXC CBS show, and based on what I've seen of Cyborg, I'd have to say that she -- and not the more famous Gina Carano -- is EliteXC's best female mixed martial arts fighter.Cyborg is a Muay Thai specialist who has brutal punching power and the ability to control her opponents in the clinch with her muscular upper body. She absolutely dominated Baszler for five minutes before the ref finally put a merciful stop to it in the second round.
Carano, in the stands watching the fight, said afterward, "That was amazing. Oh, my gosh, Cyborg, let's do this. That was awesome." I think there's a good chance Carano and Cyborg will fight in EliteXC's next CBS show on October 4. If so, it will be the biggest fight in the history of women's MMA, and my money will be on Cyborg.

I think Cyborg is on the juice. Females don't develop that type of upper body strength naturally. So I agree,"Poor Gina".. But it won't be fair !

The one female fighter that may be able to beat either Cris Cyborg or Gina Carona is someone that Elite does not have to my knowledge, that being Tara Larosa. I am not sure if she has signed with anyone yet. Her title kind of became obsolete since Bodog went out of business.

ive seen gina fight and she is an awesome muay thai fighter but has no ground game havent seen cyborg fight but if anyone takes it to the ground with s=carano they have a good chance, but gina being gorgeous and well verse iin cage fughting makes it a goood draw ,go see her youll be amazedm oh and yes she is a knockout

No doubt about it.... Chris Cyborg will beat Gina Carno.. I can go into some details about each fighter, but I will just say that, Cyborg is literally like a Anderson Silva for womens MMA. Cyborg can make the weight of 140lbs which Carano has had problems doing so in her past fights, and simply I think Cyborg is stronger and her striking is very accurate.

Carano is EliteXC's star and a fight with Cyborg would be too risky. Expect Carano to fight someone less of a threat. EliteXC will have to weather the criticism for picking a lesser opponent.
Carano must be protected. It's too early in these TV contests to risk her record and reputation. Maybe next year.

I concur with ya on that. Gina is sexy and very marketable and it's a little early to mess up a ratings gem like her. Although, I actually think Gina has somethin "street" about her punching, I wouldn't automatically rule her out on this one.

Gina Carano would have put Cyborgs opponents lights out quicker. Her kicks are lethal. Her boxing awsome. She even DOMINATED the lifelong female Thai Kick Boxers. She trains with the mens. Her ground game and jujitsu are Good and keeps improving. She has great cardio. Problem is cutting weight properly. That last few pounds could make the difference. Don't get me wrong, Cyborg is awsome! Besides,your opponent is what'll make you (look good) or break you.

Well Cyborg is an amazing fighter, you cant argue that but so is Carano. They are both great on there feet and i think they will both want to keep it standing so it could go to either of them.
Cyborg is strong and very accurate but Carano doesnt ever give up and she wants to prove all the doubters wrong. It has the potential to be one of the best fights of the year.
I like Carano in this fight. Dont count her out just yet.

Oddsmakers love Gina and the fact that ppl like this hype Kaitlin Young & Cyborg. Whom both have only destroyed newbs(all of Kaitlin Young's prior wins) or ppl that are bad matchups for them(Cyborg over Baszler and Cris' 3 prior wins over 1 and done debuters). Cyborg's chin and ability against a any striker, much less Carano, are legitimate question marks.
Carano's(?) is the ground and any talk of Cyborg assuredly beating Carano not including that is baseless.
Young and Cyborg are good, but please do your homework on who they are and just what exactly they've done, then maybe you won't lose any (more) $ betting on them against Carano.

Come on guys...Cyborg has DEFINITELY used HGH or steroids. It's not even a close call. Listen to her voice, and look at her manly body. The first time I saw her fight, I thought, "Holy crap, this 'person' has had a sex change."
There are too many great fighters in the MMA world to resort to using gimmicks like Cyborg and Kimbo Slice to get the sport more recognition.
