UFC President Dana White scoffs at those who say that Fedor Emelianenko is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta says Fedor is irrelevant as long as he's not fighting in the UFC.But one person in the UFC isn't buying into the company line: UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, who appeared on this week's edition of Inside MMA and was asked at the end of the program to name the best pound for pound MMA fighter in the word.
St. Pierre answered, "Fedor Emelianenko."
I actually disagree with St. Pierre -- Anderson Silva is atop my MMA Top 25 -- but I respect him for speaking his mind and not just saying what his UFC bosses would want him to say. Fedor is great, and it's silly to pretend otherwise.

GSP- I getting more and more on his side. The one thing about Europeans and Canadian French, is that they seem to think with a straight head, no bs. When asked a simple question, he answered like he should have, not for his company, but for himself. An honest statement is refreshing than to hear bandwagon comments. Way to Go GSP !!!!

I disagree with you. Fedor is #1 in my MMA Top 25 -- but I respect you for posting this even though it isn't what you believe. Thanks for not being so biased that you'd eradicate anything contrary to your case.

Fedor is the best fighter in the world hands down. His only defeat was in a tournament 8 years ago ... he was cut by an illegal elbow and couldn't continue. Someone had to go on to the next round of the tourny and since Fedor couldn't because of the cut they didn't DQ his opponent.
I'm OK with the position the UFC takes ... maybe if Fedor doesn't think he is getting the recognition he deserves he will come fight for the UFC. I think he is reluctant to fight in a cage personally. I believe all of his fights have been in a ring. We know from the performances of Cro-Cop and Shogun that fighting in a cage is a different world.
I won't even respond to the "Fedor is fighting hacks" comment, except to say DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Fedor is the best pfp fighter in the world HANDS DOWN. This is such a silly question. You are comparing a talented fighter who just happens to be in his prime to a technically UNDEFEATED phenom
he DEMOLISHED Tim Sylvia in just seconds and made it look like taking candy from a baby.
There is NO COMPARISON Fedor is the planet's best fighter and nothing Dana says will ever change that.

Whether you think Fedor is the best fighter or not (he is) is not the point here.
Michael is pointing out GSP's frankness and for that I applaud both.
GSP strikes me as someone who has learned well the concepts of respect, humility and honesty that many traditional martial arts schools still teach. I also think he is a bit naive and might not know how to play the game. Anyone who has worked in a cormpany knows it.
Michael doesnt agree with the choice for Best Fighter yet still goes out of his way to point GSP's honesty.
You two might give MMA a bad rap if you continue with this odd behaviour.
