As you would expect, UFC President Dana White doesn't think highly of the upcoming EliteXC match-up between Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice:
"Ken is way past his prime," White said. "It gets to the point where it's dangerous for that guy to still be fighting. That being said, he still might beat Kimbo. Kimbo sucks."
I agree with White that there have to be concerns about whether it's safe for Shamrock to keep fighting. I questioned when the fight was first announced whether Shamrock could pass his physical, and I continue to wonder whether a guy who has lost each of his last five fights by first-round knockout or technical knockout should really keep fighting.
Of course, Shamrock was way past his prime when White put him in the Octagon against Tito Ortiz two years ago, so I'm not sure that White is really all that concerned about the danger of Shamrock fighting.

Who the hell is Dana White to say anything about EITHER of these fighters? He's an over-glorified desk chair polisher who had his friends BUY his way into MMA! He's NEVER stepped into the ring/octagon as a fighter, and has NO IDEA what it's like as one! Hey Dana, put your (friends) money where your mouth is, strap on the gloves, step into the ring and go a few rounds with some of these guys! I'm sure there would be a few who'd love to have the opportunity (can we say "Shamrock", or "Ortiz", or maybe even "Couture"?) You've pissed off enough people over the years with your unjustified attitude - if you're going to talk the talk, be prepared to walk the walk! Either put up, or just plain shut up!

I like Kimbo, but Dana and I both know he could not beat Fedor, or Rashad Evans right now.

Somone remind thius genius that Shamrock was past his prime when the UFC booked him to be slaughtered against Tito Ortiz (twice). And they made millions in doing so. Oh, and let's not forget leading Royce Gracie to the slaughter against Matt Hughes.
So ripping Elite XC for doing the same thing is just silly

John, you really have no idea what you are talking about do you? Dana White has been in the ring, he was an amateur boxer. He still trains and spars. He accepted a challenge to box Tito Ortiz, and after weeks of training Tito didn't show up for his examination and backed out! Do your research!
Why must people be so jealous of others success? He and the Fertitta's bought the UFC for 2 Million in 2001 ... It is now a BILLION dollar company. Thats impressive if you ask me!
He has been putting up ... now you need to shut up!

Eric, apparently YOU have no idea what you're taking about. Dana is an AMATEAUR boxer, but you can't even find his stats listed anywhere (yes, I looked). I DID find out that he also was an aerobics instructor too (ooooo, that just screams "really tough guy", doesn't it?). Has he ever fought in his own OCTAGON? Has he ever been an MMA fighter? I'll answer my own questions - "NO, he most definately has not!" He is president of an organization of which he has no practical experience! The reason Mr. Ortiz didn't take the fight was because there wasn't a contract signed and there wasn't any money involved (he's a businessman - fighting is his BUSINESS!). Do YOUR research before YOU sound off!
All I'm saying is that if Shamrock and Slice want to square off, then they should be allowed to - they've earned that right. Anyone willing to step into the ring and 'dance' a few rounds deserves respect, reagrdless of their 'status' (I don't see YOU out there bigmouth - and before you say anything, yes, I HAVE competed in MMA competitions, so bite me fanboy!). The only ones who might have the right to criticize are the people who've 'been-there, done-that' (aka, other MMA fighters) who understand the difficulties they face, not some wannabe administrator, fanboys, bookies, adrenaline junkies, and definately not bloggers - 'nuff said!

John, you got called out about Dana having been in the ring and about the Tito exhibition fight ... now you're just being defensive because you were wrong.
Who cares if the guy instructed an aerobics class or not? Whatever he did made him enough money to buy a 10% stake ($200,000) in the UFC ... don't think I have to mention again how well that paid off.
He has been an amateur boxer, studied jiu jitsu, trained fighters, and been the president of the UFC for 7 years ... I'm thinking he knows a little about fighting!
You're welcome to post a link to a website so all of us can see the results of your fights ... no?
You told me to "do my research", what was I incorrect about? Oh yea, nothing! Don't respond again, I'm done with you!

I'll respond if I want to (little punk) - Dana is nothing more than an overglorified loudmouth who has been alienating some of his best fighters over the past years (why do you think fighter have been leaving UFC?)! While he 'claims' to have been an amateur fighter, show me his record. Provide a link to an offical site listing his status - you can't, can you? So he 'studies' Jiu-Jitsu - what rank is he? I asked this before, has HE ever climbed into his own ring and fought? As for trainer, he hasn't trained ANYONE. He's MANAGED a few, but NEVER trained (get YOUR facts straight dipsmack!) But we're arguing 'apples-to oranges' here. My POINT is that he has never been an MMA FIGHTER! I don't care if you're Muhammed Ali in his prime, boxing and MMA are two different animals - PERIOD! Who is he to comment on two MMA fighters in a DIFFERENT LEAGUE? It sounds like he's pissing and moaning 'cause he's upset that he's missing out on the profits!
As for my link to a website, I'm sorry to say there is none. I did this when MMA was still what Sen. McCain refered to as 'human cockfighting' - when there were no time limits, no rules, and the ref was there just to make sure that nobody died. There's no You-Tube clips, but I' got the scars (fractured skull, fused C-2, 2 dislocated shoulders, 3 ruptured discs in my lower, dislocated right hip, both knees blown, 2 stress-fractured shins, fallen arches, and boxers breaks) and a lot of smiles to prove it - whadaya' you got princess?

John, why are you such a hater?
Some people are smart enough not to get into the MMA ring if they don't belong ... unlike yourself. Sounds like you got KOed a few too many times.
Dana put this sport on the map, so that fighters could be protected and make good money fighting ... keep on hating though, it proves your ignorance.
"Dipsmack ... Princess" what are you, 12? Ok, now I am really done with you.

Hate? It's called "RESPECT" I 'respect' ANYONE who's got the stones to climb in there and do actually do it (which, I keep trying to point out, Dana HAS NOT). It's easy to sit at a computer an judge, why don't YOU get out and try it sometime? And NO, I haven't been KO'ed one too many times (I actually won more than my fair share of matches). I was doing it at at a point in time when MMA wasn't 'popular'. The only thing that Dana did was make MMA palatable to uber-conservative white-bread Americans (like Sen. McCain) - nothing more than pervert a brilliant idea created by Rorion Gracie. Why do you think that Rorion washed his hands of the whole thing and wants nothing to do with UFC anymore? DO YOUR HOMEWORK! ... and you call ME ignorant? Like I said, shut off your computer and try it sometime or shut up!
...or maybe you're not really 'Eric', are you? You've been rabidly defending Dana White - why? It just doesn't make sense, unless.... Dana, is that you? Did I hurt your little feelings? Awww - truth hurts, dont it?

John, I didn't read your entire reply because it is complete nonsense. When I said that Dana has done a good thing for MMA that wasn't my opinion that's a fact. You sound like a pissed off Ultimate Fighter reject!
Why do you insist that Dana has to get into the Octagon? ... Are you calling out Gary Shaw too? Maybe Gary should fight Kimbo, right? How about Joe Rogan and Dana White squaring off in the octagon. This is stupid. You're a frigging idiot, John.

My original POINT (ignoramus) was that if he's going to talk like he's a fighter, then he'd better be prepared to back that talk up or just plain shut up and be the administrator he's paid to be! This is the UFC (a PROFESIONAL, LEGITIMATE SPORT), not the WWE and he's not Vince McMahon. You don't see any executives from other leagues talking crap about fighters, do you? I don't hear any board members from say K-1 using words like 'sucks' and '...past his prime' in public (even though it might be what they could be thinking). It's called 'TACT'. The language that Dana used (and has been using thorughout his carrer as President of UFC) is one of unfounded arrogance. Anyone can talk smack in front of a camera (or a computer for that mater, smartass), but when push comes to shove, where's Dana's bravado when confronted face-on? He back-peddles, cowers, placates, and puts on his friendly 'what, me?' face. And regardless of what you CLAIM, he had his friends BUY the UFC and place him in chare of it as president (that IS a FACT!).
But Eric ('Dana'), you still haven't answered my questions (or are you refusing because you can't find anything to substantiate your 'claims':
1. You 'claim' that Dana is an AMATEAUR boxer - please provide a link to an OFFICAL site listing his status, to include the number of fights he's fought, wins, losses, draws, etc.
2. You 'claim' Dana studies Jiu-Jitsu - please provide the name of the school he attends or the name of the accredited instructor who is teaching him and the rank he currently holds.
3. I've stated that he's MANAGED a few MMA fighters, but you claim that Dana's actually TRAINED them - please provide a list of the fighters he's actually TRAINED, what he's TRAINED them in, and what he's QUALIFIED to train them in (aside from aerobics).
Talk is cheap - I can back up every one of my arguements - CAN YOU?
Oh, and by the way - I'd LOVE to see Joe Rogan kick the @#$! out of Dana (he's a LEGITIMATE brown belt in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu)!
...now go away, or I will taunt you a second time!

Yea, I didn't read all of that nonsense either.
I don't claim anything ... the info is from interviews with friends/family and reports by the media.
Personally I think Dana speaks his mind instead of playing the game ... I respect that! I'm done talking about this, so we will have to agree to disagree.

WoW... John and Eric should step in the octogon... i'd give up my lunch money to see that one. Dana is a big mouth, but saavy businessman, he knows how to gloat and shine when he needs to.He's probably a lil sour and claims Kimbo sucks because, well, he doesn't fight in the UFC and EliteXC is UFCs competition, other than that, he's a pansy for saying someone else sucks, why doesn't Dana step up to challenge Kimbo...his only way out is to say,"Well I dont need to fight, I'm the UFC president", and go back to eating fatboy food like he does in his video blogs...with that said... Ken IS past his prime, but still wants to act tough and Kimbo well, he's stepping up to the challenge...They are both fighters, all they know well is how to fight...Why do people get so stupid about stuff, I mean really? It's all entertainment anyway...

THANK-YOU Chris - my point EXACTLY! Dana is a loudmouth when he's safe in front of a camera, but I'd like to see him say that Kimbo "sucks" or that Ken is "...past his prime" to their faces! My problem with Dana White has ALWAYS been that he talks and acts like one of his own fighters, but he's never really 'been-there, done-that' (regardless of what Eric/'Dana' keeps trying to argue - "SHOW ME HIS/'YOUR' STATS, NUMBNUTS!"), and one of these days (hopefully very soon) his loud mouth is going to write a check is body can't possibly cash!
Regardless of Shamrock's or Slice's physical/techincal status, they deserve respect for having the guts and the fortitude to step into the ring and "get it on" (as Big John McCarthy would say). It's just entertainment to folks watching at home, but it's a way of life for the people actually doing it - I admire that, I understand it.

John, it takes some real balls to call out someone on a blog ... But hey, I'll indulge you. Just to let you know I am 6'5" and bench press over 400lbs. Even if you could fight a little (which I doubt) it doesn't really matter, because I would just slam you on your bitch ass head and call it a day!

OOOO - and I'm 9'2'' and bench half a ton!!! Like you said Eric, talk is cheap on a blog - try and slam me on my 'bitch ass head' and call it a day in the wonderful world of reality! If you're such a big burly man (like you say you are) why aren't YOU an MMA fighter, tough guy?

What is up with this guy ... why does everyone have to be an MMA fighter? The sport needs fans and owners too! I'm a weightlifter/bodybuilder not an MMA fighter ... there you go again thinking everyone has to be an MMA fighter again!
