Tito Ortiz: 'If I Sign With Affliction, You'll See Me for Free on CBS'

In this video, Tito Ortiz reiterates his previous claim that he'll sign with either Affliction or UFC and fight again soon. Ortiz has said so many different things about where he'll fight next that it's hardly even worth mentioning anymore, but Ortiz also makes an interesting comment that suggests he knows something the rest of us don't know about the future of mixed martial arts on network TV:

"We'll see where I go," Ortiz said. "I just want to fight for all my fans out there who buy the pay-per-view, or, if I go to Affliction, see me free on CBS."

Wow. So Ortiz is suggesting that Affliction and CBS have an agreement to broadcast fights next year. That hasn't been announced, and Affliction is still advertising its next show as being on pay-per-view.

I do think that despite EliteXC declaring bankruptcy, CBS will be back in the MMA business in 2009. And I think it would make sense for the network and Affliction to explore doing a deal together. So I wouldn't be surprised to see them do a deal, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ortiz on a CBS card if that deal happens. But Ortiz is famous for claiming he has deals lined up that never actually come to fruition, so everything he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
