The legendary UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture lost in his comeback to Brock Lesnar in the main event at UFC 91 tonight in Las Vegas, as the younger, stronger man delivered a series of brutal punches and won a second-round TKO.In the first round, they had a rough, tough wrestling match in which Lesnar spent more time in the dominant position, but neither man did a lot of damage. But in the second, Lesnar landed a brutal punch that knocked Couture down, pounced on him and continued bashing him until the referee had no choice but to step in.
It was the 45-year-old Couture's first fight in 15 months, and he looked rusty, while the 31-year-old Lesnar looked just as big and strong as ever. Lesnar also looked more patient than he had in his previous fights -- he picked and chose his spots and didn't rush into anything.
Couture will always be one of the all-time greats in MMA, but today was probably the last day he'll ever be the owner of a UFC title belt. Couture's record falls to 16-9; Lesnar's record improves to 3-1.
Up next for Lesnar will be the winner of the Frank Mir-Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fight at UFC 92. Lesnar's battle with Mir or Nogueira will unify the UFC heavyweight title, and will be one of the biggest fights of 2009.

Congratulations to Brock Lesnar. However, this won't help MMA in the mainstream media. Instead of showing Lesnar in MMA and talking about his accomplishments, they are going to show WWF and him body slamming guys.

Yes, size does matter. The old saying "A good big man will beat a good little man" applies here. I have been a martial artist for over 35 years and I think that all things being equal, except size and weight which also mean more strength, the bigger man will come out on top. Though I do not care for the professional wrestling of today, I do admire their athletic ability and obvious toughness and strength. I have aften said that they could be cross trained to be very competitive in the MMA. The big problem, and I am not an authority on this, it appears that most of these wrestlers are on steroids. If this is true, of course they should not be a part of the MMA.

UFC just lost a fan. There are much more imminently qualified and dedicated athletes out there than Brock Lesnar. To give him a title shot after just two fights is disrespectful to the fighters that have dedicated the time and paid their dues and shows that Dana White et al value a quick buck over the integrity of the sport.

He won. You can't justify you arguement. UFC is a business, like it or not too. If you owned it, you would do the same. If you would not, you would be out of business.

do you realize that randys first title shot was also 4 fights into his career...get over it people...with brocks impressive performance against heath herring the ufc saw that it would be a big money maker and great publicity and NO ONE else could take brocks place...Mir was dominated and was lucky enough to catch his foot...brock deserved that shot...whether you want to admit it or not

I agree with you 100%!
Brock had only one win inside the UFC, and to give him a chance at the title is a total disrespect to any mixed martial artist.
I hope Mir loses to Nogueira, I like Mir, but i don't think he can pull another win againt that albino gorilla...my only hope is with Nogueira...because he is used to get beat up and come back with a win!
