"The thing that surprised me the most, and that I don't think I was prepared for -- and it's always an issue with any fighter -- is figuring out his range. He's got 10 inches of reach on me. I didn't anticipate that. I didn't think about it. I didn't know that tidbit of information, that his reach is what it was."
It's surprising that Couture would say he wasn't prepared for Lesnar's reach because Couture is known as the best game-planner in the MMA business. But apparently in all his preparations, he didn't find a sparring partner who could recreate the reach advantage Lesnar has.
After the jump, see Couture's Sherdog interview hours before the Lesnar fight.

Anybody actually SEE the punch that floored him? Besides Sonny Liston, I mean, What a set up and we'll all fall for it.

Yeah, I saw it. On the replay, too. Lesnar's hamhock-sized fist caught Couture cleanly on the side of the head. I saw Couture's head jarred by the impact before Lesnar's fist slipped by.
Or are you ignorant enough to imply that Randy took a dive? You can't possibly be that ignorant, can you?

I don't know why Kim Couture keeps saying that Lesnar dissed Couture. I thought Lesnar was as respectful as he could possibly be towards Randy. Let's not forget that Randy is OLD so it's not an insult to say that.

Even though Lesnar will one day be one of the best Dana is smart enough to not let him be treated like a bitch by Fedor,Dana will wait until Fedor is ready to retire then try to push some kind of deal.I personally think that Fedors student Kiril Sidelnokov would go through Lesnar like shit though a goose

What I want to know is where the heck is Forest? I would think he would have fought or at least announced a fight with someone by now. Maybe he has and I missed it. Like to see him mix it up with the guy who beat Liddell. Or maybe even Liddell. Also like to see Lesnar fight the big russian Fedor. He'd learn something in that one like how to land on his face

Uhh ... Forrest is fighting the "guy who beat Liddell" next month. Your wish has come true!
Also, Fedor isn't really a "big russian". He is about 6' and a pretty soft 230.

Gotta dig Eric. You ought to do your own blog. Most knowledgeable and ubiquitous cat on the fight boards. Keep up the good work. Rock on. :-)

What went wrong? Simple: giving up 15 years and 55 pounds of muscle.
A heavyweight range of 205-265 is just too wide. It needs to be split.
