UFC 100: Randy Couture vs. Chuck Liddell?

One of the most common questions around the Ultimate Fighting Championship is what the organization will do for UFC 100, the event that is rapidly approaching and will take place some time this summer.

One possibility: Pit Chuck Liddell against Randy Couture in a match-up of the two most popular fighters in the history of American MMA.

Bloody Elbow is reporting
that Liddell is currently in negotiations to move to heavyweight in order to fight Couture, and that a tentative date and venue has even been set: June 13 in Cologne, Germany. Liddell and Couture have already fought three times, and I'm sure a fourth fight between the two legends would be a huge draw.

However, I don't like the idea that the Liddell-Couture winner should get a heavyweight title shot against Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or Frank Mir. Liddell and Couture were great champions in their primes, and they've earned the adoration of their fans, but we shouldn't pretend that the winner of their fourth fight is the No. 1 heavyweight contender.
