Tito Ortiz will appear at tomorrow's press conference to promote Affliction: Day of Reckoning, and I guess I can sort of see why some people think that's a big deal: Ortiz is one of the most popular fighters in MMA, it was just a few years ago that he was the most popular fighter in the UFC, and if he fights for Affliction, he'll bring a lot of attention to the promotion. But the truth is, the Affliction MMA promotion might not even be in business by the time Ortiz is ready to fight. Ortiz says he'll be recovered from back surgery in time to fight in July, nine months after his surgery. How confident can we be that Affliction is going to be promoting fights in July? And how confident can we be in Ortiz's self-diagnosis of a nine-month recovery period? He had the same surgery that Nate Quarry had, and Quarry was out of action for 15 months after his back surgery.
Times are tough right now for every MMA promotion other than the UFC, and all indications are the economy is going to get worse in 2009. Affliction has an uphill climb just to stay around long enough to get Ortiz into its oversized ring.

Who really cares about Tito Ortiz besides the UFC groupies, who also hate anything non Zuffa.
So, what's your point? Just wanted to give your boy G.Dog White some more positive spin & take a shot at (big surprise here, a non Zuffa promotion) what the paraniod, neurotic and rabidly insecure thinks of as competition?
Weak article. Even weaker analysis and "expert commentary".
Does the UFC pay you by the sentence or paragraph?

IT'S MORE LIKE WHO CARES WHERE TITO GOES, HE'S BASICALLY DONE AS A FIGHTER OUTSIDE OF THE UFC WHERE HE'S SPENT HIS ENTIRE CAREER. HIS FAN BASE WILL CERTAINLY DECREASE AS MOST WON'T BE WILLING TO PAY TO SEE HIM FIGHT IN ONE OF THESE OTHER WANNA BE ORGANIZATIONS. HE'LL ULTIMATELY HAVE TO COME BACK CRAWLING TO THE UFC IF YOU WANTS TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT IN THE U.S. BEFORE A HUGE CROWD.
HE'S GONNA END UP BEING MORE LIKE A MIKE TYSON WHERE IT'S A CURIOSITY TO SEE IF HE'S GONNA BE AS GOOD AS HE USED TO BE, IN WHICH CASE HE WON'T BE BECAUSE HE HASN'T EVOLVED PASS THE GROUND AND POUND TECHNIQUE. ALSO BECAUSE OF THE BAD BLOOD BETWEEN HIM AND DANA, SHOULD HE MIRACULOUSLY GET BACK INTO THE UFC.
BUT TO BE HONEST, HE IS GOOD FOR SHOW AND AS FAR AS THE UFC GOES, HE WILL PUT ASSES IN THE SEATS. EVERY SPORT HAS IT'S BAD BOYS THAT YOU LOVE OR HATE, AND HE DEFINITELY HAS THE COPY RIGHT ON THAT. BUT IT'LL ONLY WORK IN THE UFC AS FAR AS DRAWING BIG CROWDS.
AFFLICTIONS DAYS ARE NUMBERED, JUST LIKE ALL THE REST. WHICH I CALLED WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED THERE FIRST SHOW. THEY HAVE ONE FIGHTER, "FEDOR", AND ONE FIGHTER DOES NOT MAKE AN ENTIRE ORGANIZATION WHERE YOU CAN JUST COME AND PUT ON PAY PER VIEW EVENTS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS WITH THE SAME FIGHTER(S). I TOLD EVERYONE THAT IT WAS GONNA BE JUST LIKE THE USFL (UNITED STATES FOOTBALL LEAGUE) WHERE THEY WERE GONNA THROW ALL KINDS OF MONEY AT FIGHTERS AND TRY TO ENTICE OTHER BIG NAMES TO COME OVER WITH FEDOR BECAUSE THEY HAD BIG TIME INVESTORS.
