The Des Moines Register reports that police had to chase Neer's Audi for more than 20 miles before he was stopped. At one point an officer even bumped Neer's car and forced him to spin out, but Neer managed to re-gain control of the car and keep going.
Neer, who reportedly drove over 100 mph in a 65 mph zone, was charged with felony eluding and second-offense operating while intoxicated.
Neer is scheduled to face Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 17 on February 7 in Tampa.

Every profession in every aspect of life will have people that make mistakes and bad decisions. What Neer did was reckless, dangerous, and he should be punished for his actions, but for you to jump on the internet and degrade a professional athlete to the likes of cock fighting or dog fighting is not only ridiculous but ignorant as well. I have no clue who you are or know anything about you but I would be willing to bet a paycheck you couldn't make it through a 2 hour mma training session. I've personally done this so I know- 4 charges thrown out due to radar gun recallibration issues, couldn't prove i diidn't take off my seatbelt AFTER I was stopped, tints look darker at night, and illegal search (I was never asked permission). Needless to say- I LOVE MY LAWYER! I had him purposely address each ticket INVIDUALLY (separate court dates) just to keep the cop tied up in court for a while. MOST people shouldn't speed, but those that can will.

My car can practically drive itself and can easily exceed the top speed of an HP cruiser- so unless you're on a crotch rocket or a helicopter- don't waste your time. Since we're so concerned about "endangering innocent lives", I say this, if you don't chase me, then I won't have to run. In a separate incident, I have caused two cruisers to collide into each other while "observing" my vehicle. (they were NOT trying to pull me over, but it was obvious they were about to. I"M the one that called the sheriffs office and told them to come get their garbage off the road. Cops exist for one reason- to disrupt MY day, and just can't have that.
Jessica- Maybe where I'm from, the laws are different from your state. Anytime I've been pulled over, the cops ALWAYS ask if their are any drugs or weapons in the car. When you say "no", it's followed by "so, you don't mind if we take a look then?" That, to me, is them asking for permission. My lawyer was able to spin it into an all around botched stop. Almost like when they ask CONSENT to do a breathalizer or field sobriety test.
William- check your own closet before you worry about my spellin'.
Mark- the max. fines and court costs are of no consequence to me. My attorney is ALWAYS on retainer. It's expensive to do what you want, when you want, but "se la vie".
