The Ultimate Fighting Championship is heating up the hype for the the UFC 94 main event between B.J. Penn and Georges St. Pierre. Here's Penn with a special message to GSP:
"Georges, I'm going to go to the death," Penn said. "I'm going to try to kill you and I'm not joking about this."
Uh, OK. Somehow I doubt they're actually going to fight to the death, but they will fight to the pain.
Yesterday I wrote that there's no animosity between Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson, the two competitors in the main event at UFC 93. I guess we can't say the same for the two competitors in the main event at UFC 94.

I've never felt that BJ's comments before a fight were just hype ... BJ is a cold-blooded killer. He truly hates his opponents leading up to & during a fight.
We saw when he got a chance to avenge his loss to Pulver, he wanted to kill Jens when he wouldn't let go of the choke - even though the referee was trying to pull him off. The guy licks his opponents blood off of his gloves for freak sake!
I think BJ will come into this fight in great shape, and he will stop GSP in the 3rd or 4th. The only advantage St. Pierre has is his wrestling, and I don't think that he will be able to take BJ down and avoid damage for 5 rounds.

This is gona be such a wicked fight. Will GSP be the first to submit or KO Penn in an MMA competition? Mir did it to Big Nog. BJ is really on top of his game lately. GSP couldn't finish Fitch, Couldn't finish Kosh, Got KO's before that. When was the last time we saw BJ really get outclassed or man handled?
I'll be in the 6th row for this one. Anyone else going? Eric? Frederick? MDS?

I'm sorry to say I won't be there. I'll be at the Super Bowl, so I'll be looking for a place to watch it in Tampa the night before.

No, I won't be there.
BJ has never been outclassed. His only bad loss was to Hughes because of poor cardio. Other than that, the decisions have been razor close - including a fight with a much bigger Machida.

I think that even though I like BJ Better. I feel if its over in round 1 or 2 BJ Wins if george lasts that long he will win on cardio. I am going to bet this at the imperial palace. Also Quinton will knock out Rashad hands down. henderson will knockout franklin and my biggest pick is first round knockout fedor over arlovski. I like andrei alot but Fedor is the best and he will continue to be the best Josh Barnett would give fedor good fight but still lose

I'm surprised to here than you are picking Henderson by KO. Dan has only 1 knockout (Wanderlei) in the past 3 years, and if you look at the 2 knockouts before that they were against 170 lb fighters (Gono, Chonan).
I know that people say he has a big right hand, but he hasn't been landing it with any effectiveness. I'm looking for Franklin to win by decision.

Ya im perfect on here so far and im going to say Franklin by decision also. Henderson goes for the big knockout which is exciting but with a better striker in Franklin will most likely lead to defeat. If he uses his world class wrestling he wins a more boring fight.

well I will hope you do not bet on this fight Eric. I like your thinking somewhat but Dan has not performed upto par as of late and he needs to get back in the oohs and ahhss of the mma world. The up and comers have really stolen the spotlight. Dan by ko first round. Please keep my email
dmsl04@yahoo.com so you can say wow good call Dan the Man:)

Dan does have the chin advantage, so I understand your thinking but who knows, maybe we will see Dan get knocked out for the first time. Rich is one of the best finishers in MMA. Out of his 24 wins he has stopped his opponent 22 times! Dan has only stopped his opponent in 11 of 23 wins.
Anyway, it's going to be interesting.

I see Georges taking this to the ground again and again until BJ caves in. St.Pierre can only beat himself. If he stays conservative and methodical, he'll wear anyone down, including Penn. St.Pierre is the stronger opponent and should dominate the ground game. I'd be a little less confident if they're both on their feat. Since the Matt Serra fluke, I've noticed St.Pierre to be a little more hesitant with his striking, and knowing the safe bet is to take his man down and punish him for a round or two and win easily.

You're right, Matt. That is definitely the smart plan for GSP in this fight, but even when GSP got the takedown in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of their first fight he couldn't do any damage to Penn.
GSP's face was a mess after their 1st fight, and BJ was basically unmarked.

With the Penn-St. Pierre matchup its a toss up with two of my favorite fighters. Wrestling is St. Pierre based on the last fights hes had with elite wrestlers taking them down at will. BJ is an Elite Jiu jitsu player unlike St. Pierre who just recieved his Black Belt but... top position is always the best and his sub defense is very good. Stand up powerwise id give GSP the advantage and Penn the technique advantage. 2 close to call so I sat St. Pierre (Sorry BJ) by unanamoius decision or BJ by knockout! Yes that is a copout but ill chose later lol
