The closer we get to the January 31 UFC 94 show, the more I'm starting to feel like the main event, featuring lightweight champion B. J. Penn taking on welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, has the potential to be one of the seminal moments in the history of MMA.
That's certainly the way the UFC is trying to portray the fight, and they're using a series of shows on Spike over the next three weeks to hype it. Here's a preview:
I like the edge in St. Pierre's voice when he says, "When I fight, I go there to destroy my opponent, to give nothing to my opponent and take everything away from him. ... I know I'm going to beat him." That's how you promote a fight.
The first episode of UFC Primetime: St. Pierre vs. Penn premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m.

This fight is bigger than Fedor vs Arlovski, Randy vs Brock, Chuck vs Wanderlei ... this is one of the greatest matchups of talent in the history of MMA.
I'm curious what the odds are for this fight? Their first matchup was a dead even fight. Since that fight BJ has improved his cardio and boxing, and GSP has improved his wrestling.
With 2 guys as dangerous as these dudes are ... anything could happen in this one.

I'm sure the odds are going to be in GSP's favor. His size and record are better. But I think the odds were in Big Nog's, Wanderlei's and Griffin's too. I just don't see BJ getting beat up. If he loses, it's by decision. If he wins it's going to be in grand fashion.
