Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares
Palhares is making his way to the Octagon. Palhares is in the Octagon.
Horn is making his way to the Octagon. Horn is in the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. Palhares gets it to the ground, which is where he wants it. Horn has guard, but Palhares is a jiu jitsu expert. Now Palhares moves to Horn's back and has him in trouble. Horn is in huge trouble as Palhares lands strikes from behind. Horn turns over but Palhares gets side control. Palhares is landing some punches on the ground. Horn has done nothing except try to survive. Horn actually tried a triangle there, but Palhares is far too good at jiu jitsu. Now Horn gets back to the feet and Palhares takes it back down. Palhares is really hurting Horn with hammer fists. Horn does a nice job of getting out of trouble but then Palhares gets right back on top. Palhares grabs the fence and gets warned. Horn did a good job of getting out of the round, but it clearly went to Palhares, 10-9.
Round 2: Palhares shoots at the start of the round, picks Horn up and slams him to the mat. Palhares is told he won't be warned about grabbing the cage again. Palhares is just absolutely dominating this fight on the ground. Horn needs to do something or the ref is going to stop it. Palhares just has world-class jiu jitsu. Horn moves into mount! Wow. For the first time in the fight Horn is in the dominant position midway through the second round. Back on the feet and Palhares with a spinning back kick. Palhares with a head kick. He's showing something on his feet. But now Horn lands a right hand and a kick. Now they're back to the ground with a minute to go, Palhares is in Horn's guard. Horn tried a triangle but didn't get it. This round was a lot closer, but I'll give it to Palhares, 10-9.
Round 3: Big takedown from Palhares. Horn is defending himself but Palhares is in control on top. Palhares is landing some hammer fists. Horn went for a guillotine but couldn't get it, now Palhares is back in Horn's closed guard. Palhares looks gassed. Horn wanted a triangle but Palhares is just too good at jiu jitsu to get submitted like that. Palhares is landing a lot of punches but there's not much on them. Palhares is in control, but he's not really doing anything, and now they stand up with a minute to go. Horn went for a head kick, missed, and then they went back to the ground with 25 seconds left. Both guys ran out of steam at the end, but Palhares was in control most of the way, and I give it to Palhares, 10-9.
Rousimar Palhares beats Jeremy Horn by unanimous decision. All three judges scored it 30-27.

Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang
Kang is on his way to the Octagon. Kang is in the Octagon.
Belcher is on his way to the Octagon. Belcher is in the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. Kang is like a lightning bolt and almost lands a huge strike right at the beginning, before Belcher even has his hands up. Kang lands a couple of good punches. Very good beginning for Kang, who now takes Belcher down. Kang gets out of Belcher's guard and is trying to get to side control. Kang is doing some damage on the ground and Belcher isn't able to do much, although he is now back in guard. Good double upkick from Belcher to get back to the feet. Nice couple of punches from Kang. And then another double-leg takedown for Kang, into Belcher's guard. Nice hammer fist from Kang on the ground, and then Kang gets back up. Another nice hammer fist from Kang. Kang almost got the anaconda choke, then got to side control. Kang wants the kimura. Belcher is doing a good job defending himself on the ground, but he's done almost nothing offensively. Kang wins the round, 10-9, could almost be a 10-8 round.
Round 2: Belcher's stance is wide open for Kang to attack, but Belcher does a good job of getting double underhooks against the fence. Kang goes for a sweep but can't take Belcher down. Kang lands a couple of punches, Belcher shakes them off. Kang gets Belcher down, Belcher gets into guard. So far Belcher has shown nothing at all from guard. Now Kang is in half guard. We're halfway through this fight and Kang has dominated. Not a lot of action on the ground and the Irish crowd is growing restless. Kang gets up and Belcher stays on his back, now they're back to the ground, Kang still unable to pass guard. They're finall stood back up. Both fighters are now looking a little more tentative, and there's not a lot of action. And they go to the ground and Belcher pulls a choke out from nowhere! Kang taps! Unbelievable! Wow! An incredible guillotine by Alan Belcher. Kang tried to shoot for a takedown and never saw that guillotine coming.
Result: Alan Belcher beats Denis Kang by second-round submission (guillotine)
Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle
Lytle is on his way to the Octagon. Lytle is in the Octagon.
Davis is on his way to the Octagon. Wearing a kilt and waving an Irish flag, the Irish-American Davis is getting a loud ovation. Davis is in the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. The Irish fans are starting in with the singing. Lytle rocks Davis with a punch! They're throwing bombs and keeping it on the feet through the first couple minutes of the fight. Nice body kick by Davis. Lytle comes in and Davis meets him with a big punch. Lytle throws a body kick and Davis catches it and throws him to the ground. They go to the ground briefly but immediately get back up; it's clear that they both want to stand and bang. It's a close, action-packed first round that I'll give to Davis, 10-9.
Round 2: They touch gloves to start the second and then go back to work, with a quick exchange. Lytle comes in and goes on the attack, backing Davis up. Lytle has Davis in trouble! Lytle drilled Davis with a couple shots near the fence, but Davis ran away. Then Davis knocked Lytle to the ground but stood him back up. Now Davis is coming in with the Muay Thai clinch, a kick and then a knee. Lytle threw some serious bombs but missed with his punches. Lytle has been more active but has only connected on one of his hard punches. Good kick to the ribs from Davis, and we're halfway through a good second round. They're just standing and banging, absolutely no ground game at all. Davis has been more effective but Lytle has been more aggressive, which sometimes affects the judges. Lytle has now given Davis a bloody nose. This has been another very active, very close second round. I'll probably give it to Davis, 10-9, but I wouldn't argue with Lytle getting it.
Round 3: They hug at the start of the third round. They're both throwing some wild punches and missing. Davis lands a kick to the body that sounded like it hurt. Lytle looks like he's a little more hesitant in the third round than he was in the first two. Davis is landing a lot of leg kicks, body kicks, all over the place except the head, which might be next. Lytle throws a kick but Davis catches it and then lands one of his own. Davis is much more effective with his kicks, which for all the punching that's going on, could be the real difference in this one. Lytle backs Davis against the fence, but Davis is getting away when he needs to. Nice body shot by Lytle. Both guys are bruised and bloody. It's been another fairly close and fairly active round, but I'm giving it to Davis, 10-9.
Result: Marcus Davis beat Chris Lytle by split decision.
