All indications are that the Ultimate Fighting Championship will continue its usual practice of putting on huge shows Memorial Day Weekend, with the heavyweight title unification fight between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir taking place at UFC 98 on May 23.
The co-main event at UFC 98 will be Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes, and Sean Sherk vs. Frank Edgar, James Irvin vs. Drew McFedries and George Roop vs. Dave Kaplan are all expected to appear on the card as well.
But the fight that will make this a huge pay-per-view event is Lesnar vs. Mir. Lesnar, who won the UFC heavyweight championship by defeating Randy Couture at UFC 91, is the promotion's single biggest star. But Mir, who won the interim heavyweight belt by defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 92, has already beaten Lesnar once. Their rematch will be among the most highly anticipated fights in UFC history.
The UFC has not officially announced the card, but multiple sites have indicated it's done, and it's the fight that would make the most sense for the UFC 98 main event. This is going to be a huge night of MMA.

I'd pay for it just to see Lesnar-Mir and Hughes-Serra. I don't think Edgar has much of a chance of beating Sherk, and the rest of the undercard doesn't sound good, but those are two great main events.

Obviously the main event is a huge fight. Randy's age & inactivity made that victory for Brock less than impressive to me, but beating Frank right now would solidify his position at the top of the heavyweight division in the UFC.
Irvin vs. McFedries could be extremely explosive ... I guess McFedries is moving up to 205? McFedries may be lost on the ground, but he is an animal on the feet.
Sherk should be able to dictate the fight vs Edgar. I think he will rely on his boxing more than his wrestling ... like he did against Tyson.
I don't know what to think about the Matt^squared fight? Does everyone think that Hughes will win with his wrestling, or that Serra will win with better power in his standup?
