It was yet another stunning first-round win for Fedor, who looked sluggish in the early going but simply saw an opening, threw one punch, and knocked Arlovski out cold. Fedor showed again why he's a legend and retained his title as the sport's undisputed heavyweight champion.
Arlovski had been controlling the first round with his superior stand-up game, but all it took was Arlovski leaving himself exposed for a split second, and Fedor calmly landed a brutal strike directly to Arlovski's chin. Arlovski was knocked unconscious at 3:34 of the first round.
After the fight, Emelianenko said, "I really didn't think I would knock him out but it happened. You don't expect it to happen but it did... I had a feeling he was going to make a mistake and I was waiting to capitalize."
Emelianenko, who improved his professional MMA record to 29-1, is expected to fight Josh Barnett some time later this year. Barnett defeated Gilbert Yvel in tonight's co-main event.
Arlovski, who falls to 14-6, has said he wants to be a professional boxer. If he's going to do that, he'd better develop a better chin than he showed tonight -- or hope that heavyweight boxers don't punch as hard as Fedor.
Update: Fedor is now atop our MMA pound-for-pound Top 10.

Is there still any doubt as to who the best MMA fighter in the world is?
Fedor is without a doubt the greatest MMA fighter in the history of the sport. Arlovski was in the the best shape of his life and it still didn't matter.
If any of these UFC bobbleheads still thinks that Lesnar could beat Fedor they are officially high on drugs.

are you kidding me, Brock will destroy fedor, and so would anderson silva who is really the best mma fighter in the world/ not fedor. The Heavyweight division is the weakest in mma, and affliction is a joke. The have a ring instead of a octagon, and they use a lot of ufc wannabees.

1. Rampage is a light heavyweight
2. Anderson Silva is a middleweight
Saying those guys would beat Fedor just shows naivety from someone who only watched UFc and thinks thats all MMA has to offer. They aren't even in the same weight class so those fights would never happen.
Saying Affliction is a joke is laughable. Unlike the UFC they actually put together worthwhile fight cards. UFC puts on 1-2 PPV fights a month that usually only have one compelling fight, if that. In the two Affliction shows they put together more good fights than the UFC did in an entire year.
Affliction is not trying to be a restrictive organization to compete with the UFC. They are just trying to put on the Super fights that real MMA fans want to see. UFC wants to micromanage every fighters career and restrict them to only fighting in the UFC. Affliction just wants to put on great fights and isn't into all this Affliction vs UFC bullshit like you fantards are.
Be a fan of MMA not of organizations.

I have to LOL at the people touting Lesner. If I had to guess you guys have been MMA fans since TUF debuted... Size isn't everything in MMA, heck size is practically NOTHING. Go google Fedor vs The Beast, Bob Sapp. If the same Frank Mir showed up to fight Fedor as the one we seen fight Nog, then that would be a great fight. Mir is inconsistent at best tho.

Hey was trying to throw a flying knee like he did in one of his last two fights (can't remember). He got caught with an overhand right on the way up and was knocked out on the way down.

I do not care what kind of shape Arlovski was in, Sylvia beat him twice. He never could take a punch. And don't go by a guys build and think he is ready to fight. Lesner is a force to be reckoned with, but not for Fedor or even Barnett.

Another UFC kool-aid drinker.
Lets see ...
Fedor dominated two UFC champions 1. sylvia in roughly 30 seconds and 2. Arlovski in about a minute.
I am not convinced that Lesnar will beat Mir (whom already beat him once) in their next fight. I think Mir would be a better match for Fedor than that of the extremely overhyped Lesnar.
Brock needs at least 5-10 more fights before he should even consider fighting someone of the caliber of The Last Emperor.
I am a fan of MMA. Not organizations. I like Affliction because they are just trying to put on great cards.
The two Affliction cards had just as many good fights as all the UFC cards combined in 2008. Other than UFC Ultimate every card is usually only 1 decent fight if that. It's highway robbery that they have at least one and usually two PPV fights a month at $60 and typically aren't very interesting.
The UFC does a good job of marketing it's fighters and does put on some great fights and have a fantastic presentation. They just need to either lower the price of PPVs or make them more worthwhile like they were 5 or so years ago.

Lesnar is nothing... Fedor owns you, your mom, your grandma and anything else that steps in the ring. Arlovski is a good fighter but nothing can prepare you for Fedor...NOTHING.

Agreed. Hopefully Dana can put a deal together that isn't to restrictive for Fedor and we can see him destroy EVERY UFC champ current and former.
2 down ... a few more to go ...
The question is can Barnett get Fedor to the ground. I would want to say yes but I'm not sure he could take the punches that it would take to get inside on him. Who knows. Fedor is human after all and will eventually lose. It just doesn't seem like there is anyone out there now that can do it in the heavyweight division.

Fedor is the badest man on earth, and i don't think there's a heavy weight that can give him a fight. BUT! i would love to see him fight Brock becouse the UFC has no heavy weights that can chalenge him. he will eat Mir this time. Fedor vs. Brock...yeah baaby!!

Brock has allot of natural talent in that he is big and fast. However, his inexperience is his greatest downfall. After seeing Mir destroy Big Nog I am starting to think he will destroy Lesnar in that rematch. I think mir would be a better fight at this point for Fedor than Brock.
There is no doubt that if Fedor beats Barnett & Lesnar beats Mir that a Fedor vs Lesnar would be a superfight even bigger than Penn vs GSP as far as namesake goes.
In all honesty Fedor has never lost a fight. His one loss was extremely controversial and should have been called a no contest.
What Arlovski did reminded me of the mistake Faber made vs Brown. He made a risky strike attempt early in the fight that wasn't necessary.
Fedor has more power on both hands than anyone in MMA - only rivaled by the punching power of Rampage who is off the charts hard hitting.

Nobody can beat this man in the HW division. Nobody can beat this man in any division. I would love to see Fedor vs. Rashad. Rashad could make 220-230. Don't get me wrong, Fedor would win. It would be an interesting matchup though.

As a former Boxer i have to say anyone can be beaten.Fopr many years nobody thought Tyson was beatable.Well, when he signed to fight his first real opponent(Holyfield).i predicted if Holy could get past the first two or three,he would come on to beat the Big bully Tyson.Tyson was never the great one many thought. He just hadn't had real opposition, and he folded.I dont see Fedor folding against anyone, but he will lose eventually.Only Rocky Marciano retired undefeated, and because he was smart enough to let young lions have their due.
