TapouT has released a statement on the death of its co-founder, Charles "Mask" Lewis.
The statement reads, in full:
"It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we must regretfully confirm the passing of our beloved friend, brother and co-founder Charles "Mask" Lewis following a car accident that occurred last night. We are currently in the process of setting up a memorial service in his honor and will release more details as they become available. Many thanks to all for the outpouring of blessings and well-wishing during this incredibly difficult time." – The TapouT FamilyMask was an early supporter of mixed martial arts and a man who never lost his free spirit, even as he went from selling shirts out of the trunk of his car to running a business empire. He'll be missed.

Sad sad day in the MMA world and for MMA fans. Mask did alot for this sport I love. I had the honor of meeting Mask Feb 6th, 2009 at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa. Mask had an uncany ability to make you feel like his best friend like he has known you for years. A great man was lost today and he will be mist. Much love and prayers to his family and friends.

I met Charles at a Karate tournament in Palm Springs, Ca I was engraving names on winners trophies and he was selling T-shirts. He asked me if I would make Tapout Dog tags for him with Tapout logo on one side & inyaface.com on the other. I did so for about 3 years. He was a great guy. I along with the MMA community will miss him.
