The theme of the fight was that Lashley was bigger and stronger than Guida but unable to do any real damage to him. Lashley, who improved his record to 2-0, has a long, long way to go before he's a complete mixed martial artist.
Lashley shot for a takedown just seconds into the fight, but he couldn't do anything because Guida wrapped his arm around the top rope to keep from getting wrestled to the ground. Although Lashley landed a big right hand about a minute and a half into the round, the round was mostly uneventful, with Lashley and Guida basically leaning into each other in the corner. Midway through the first round, the crowd started booing the lack of action.
In the second round, Lashley picked Guida up and slammed him to the ground, and Lashley used his superior strength and size to spend most of the round on top of Guida. But he wasn't able to do much damage, and he appeared to run out of energy while Guida held him in half guard.

In the third Lashley again took Guida down, and Guida stunningly got Lashley in a guillotine that looked dangerous for a moment. But Lashley pulled his head free, and he held on until the clock ran out to pull off a rather dull decision win over Guida, whose career record falls to 17-20. Lashley said after the fight that he needs to go back to training. He's right about that.

No you got it wrong, you have to become a bad actor first so the WWE can promote your movie while you still work for them, then you become a has been wrestler, retire make some bad movies and then when you become a has been actor you get to go back and squeeze a few more dollars out of your wrestling gig.

He was a 3 time national champion in college. I'd say that was a pretty good start.

The thing is he is not a professional trained fighter he is a professional physical actor with the ability to fight. I challange any of you to get in a ring and work a 5 min spot with any professional wrestler and you will see that unless you have been undergone years of being properly trained and gruling conditioning you will be a huge failure. It is alot harder than you think. I can see why wrestling always has a black eye becouse all of the negitive press it is always getting but if someone in hollywood is a drug atic or alcoholic we give them reality shows and show pitty and call the bad boys or party girls on the other hand troubled wretlers makes news are disreguared as less than a human being.

actually, he IS professionally trained. He's been training with American Top Team in Coconut Creek. (I know most of the fighters there from the MD's office I work in.) He knew what he was getting himself into. He's a really soft spoken guy, and is working hard to become a better, more durable fighter. I see great things in his future :)

2-0 already and now being labeled as the underdog...Lashley was also a "Army" amateur wrestler I guess his 2 wins show that no matter if the fight is boring or exciting. When its 10-0 what will people say then?

Lashley won. Once again, he won. He is building his career the right way instead of the Lesnar way. Lashley could fight top guys (make big money real quick, win or lose), cheat (punch people in the back of the head, hold the cage/rope), and complain about refs that call you on the cheating.
He is supposed to be unimpressive right now. Look for him to improve greatly with each fight. I see Lashley eventually blossoming into a heavweight champion with 10-12 fights under his belt.

i agree.. in my opinion lesnar should have NEVER got such a quick title shot.. look at Cheick Kongo, he hasn't had a shot yet and he has a much better MMA game then Lesnar. He beat Heath Herring to get a shot, i mean herring is a good fighter its just a win over him shouldnt give anybody a title shot

He wouldn't stand a chance against someone like Frank Mir or someone with some decent BJJ experience. Even if Lashley was to fight much smaller BJJ fighters I think he would get submitted at the first mistake he made, The only thing that has proven effective is train, train, train, to be a complete and well rounded in all aspects of the MMA and we all know that takes years and years. But everyone has to start somewhere.

Right now, Lashley's a one-trick pony in a VERY diversified field. He's still got more training to do before he reaches the level of a true MMA specialist.

The worst part of MMA is the fans who have no appreciation for wrestling. Wrestling is what made MMA what it is. Fans who don't like wrestling, and the idiot ref's who stand fighters up for the fan appeal, need to spend some time on the mat. They need to know what it takes to dominate someone on the ground. Anyone who has ever done MMA knows wrestling is the foundation to build off of. I'm really sick of the gladiator fans ruining MMA.
Also, if not for the idiot ref that stood Brock up, he'd of probably finished Mir.
