Ariel Helwani and I are back for another installment of our MMA podcast. This week we talk about whether Roy Jones should hang up the boxing gloves and give mixed martial arts a try, try to make sense of Jose Canseco fighting for Dream, discuss the matchmaking of Strikeforce, and consider how the mainstream media covers UFC President Dana White. I lost all interest in boxing years ago, the corruption is too much to stomach. That said MDSmith, i have to disagree with your buddy some; one I still like stylistic matchups, two, i think a skilled boxer such as Jones would do pretty good against all but the top ten in his weight division, and 3, i could care less for a mma fighter switching over to boxing.

Dana White -
As MMA and the UFC continues to grow it will become more corporate and professional. At some point Dana White is going to have to be cut loose for the sport to truly grow. The problem Dana is starting to have is that he thinks he is bigger than the sport. I'm a huge fan of the UFC and Dana White but at some point he will become more of a liability to the UFC than an asset.
Strikeforce, UFC & Affliction -
I don't believe these three promotions can co-exist for what they are trying to accomplish. My prediction is that Affliction and Strikeforce will eventually merge under one banner and we will see PPV events, premium cable shows (Showtime) and network television (CBS) shows. If the business models of Affliction and Strikeforce were combined as well as the roster of fighters it would truly be a formidable organization against the UFC. I remember Dana White saying he respected Strikeforce but not Affliction but as soon as the first Strikeforce card happened after they bought the EXC assets Dana put on the GSP vs BJ Penn card for free on Spike.
