After months of speculation, Affliction has finally shown its cards.
The clothing company/MMA promoter unveiled its event poster on the company Web site AfflictionClothing.com. As first reported by FanHouse last week, the Aug. 1 event will feature Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett in a WAMMA heavyweight championship fight.
The appearance of the event poster is significant because Affliction President Tom Atencio told FanHouse last week that the company would not make any public announcement of the event until contracts were written in ink.
The poster, therefore suggests that the ink is dry on the important elements of the deal, though an official announcement has yet to be made. That will likely come when Emelianenko comes to the U.S. on a press tour in the first week of June.
Other fighters listed on the event poster include Gegard Mousasi, Ben Rothwell, Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Tim Sylvia, Mark Hominick, Dan Lauzon, Chris Horodecki and Paul Buentello.
Curiously absent from the list is Vitor Belfort, who had been expected to face Mousasi. His omission suggests that perhaps he was not willing to meet Mousasi at a catchweight.
Affliction: Trilogy will emanate from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., and air on pay-per-view.

Fedor has an exceptional ground game; i think he submits Barnett. I say that because I think Barnett will take the worst of it on the standup and go for the takedown very early in the first round. It will be interesting to see if Barnett can take Fedor down, Fedor has excellent switches/reversals. I think Barnett probaly can, I just don't think he can keep him down.

How about they set up Fedor with a solid in-prime fighter instead of UFC hasbeens? He's far beyond the tomato can fighting part of his career.

yea, like Sivia. Just a couple of months before he was a tomato can he was the UFC world champion. Just a couple of months before Fedor knocked him out, Arlovski was considered a UFC World Champion title contender. Nogeria is so spent, he's a mire shadow of his former self. Coulture is what, 48, 49? So just WTF are you talking about.
Barnett would be an even odds fight with Mir, and maybe Lesnar.
Fedors has faught whoever was put in front of him.

granted the heavyweight division lacks talent.Although it is looking better.I do believe fedor has to go to the ufc and fight the best.He has fought everyone in front of him but I have to think the best are in the ufc.So that is where he should be.To prove to everyone he is the best.Plus he would make more money I think.

this could be a very good fight. barnett presents some problems on the ground just as arlovski did on the feet but fedor will capitalize on any chance he gets. after this fight i really hope fedor gets to ufc. only other hw not in ufc is overeem and i've heard dana has talked to him.
