UFC 99 Live: Marcus Davis-Dan Hardy

This is the UFC 99 live blog for the undercard fight between Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis.

Hardy and Davis have engaged in a war of words leading up to this fight, and that has made what would otherwise seem like a fairly ordinary welterweight fight into one of the most anticipated undercard bouts at UFC 99.

Dan Hardy vs. Marcus Davis:
Davis and Hardy are making their way to the Octagon. Tough to say who the crowd is favoring. It's close, plenty of cheers and boos.
Round 1: This fight is underway. No touch of gloves, no surprise. Davis lands a good left kick early on. Two good left kicks for Davis. Three left kicks. Davis has something he likes here. Now Davis goes for the takedown. They're pressing against the fence in a stalemate. Not a lot of action here for a fight that was advertised as a brawl. Now Davis gets on top of Hardy on the ground and is landing some punches. Hardy is in trouble on the ground with Davis landing punches. But Hardy pulled Davis into guard. Now Davis passes Hardy's guard. Davis is landing a lot of punches. Hardy has been on the defensive throughout. Davis wanted a guillotine but couldn't get it. Now they're back on their feet. Nice job by Hardy getting out of trouble and then landing a couple of punches. Now Hardy has Davis in trouble! A close first round that I give to Davis, 10-9.

Round 2: Hardy misses with a kick. Davis connects with a kick. Hardy now connects with a leg kick. Davis comes straight in and lands a jab. Davis is doing the better job when they're standing and trading punches. Now Hardy lands a good punch in an exchange and Hardy lands a knee! Davis was badly hurt but he pulled Hardy into his guard. The fight is halfway over and it could go either way. Davis is trying to get Hardy into an arm bar. Now Hardy is landing some strikes on top. Davis has done a pretty good job on the bottom. Now they're stood up. I don't really agree with that stand up, there was plenty of action going on. Nice punch from Hardy. Then a good left by Davis. Now they go to the ground with Davis taking Hardy down and ending up in Hardy's guard against the cage. It's a very close round that I'll give to Hardy, 10-9.

Round 3: Big left hand from Davis to start the round knocks Hardy down. Now Davis is in Hardy's guard. Good elbow on the ground from Davis. Davis is staying on top and landing some strikes. Davis tried to submit Hardy with a heel hook but Hardy pulled out. But now they're back on their feet. Hardy takes Davis down and ends up in his guard. Big elbow from Hardy. Hardy has opened a big cut on Davis's face. They've halted the fight to check the cut. Davis says he's OK and they re-start. The blood is getting into Davis's eyes. Hardy landing some hammer fists. They're standing up. Hardy lands a hook that Davis didn't see coming because of the blood in his eyes. Hardy with a high kick and a left hook. Another close round that I'll give to Hardy, 10-9. I'll tell you what the judges say as soon as they announce it.

Dan Hardy beats Marcus Davis by split decision.
