Following his first-round TKO victory over Bob Sapp Saturday night, Bobby Lashley said he would like to fight two more times this year. He wasn't kidding.FanHouse has learned that the now 4-0 MMA rookie has agreed to fight again for Prize Fight MMA, one of the promoters of last night's "Ultimate Chaos" event, in September. No official date, location or opponent has been agreed upon, but September 26 appears to be likely.
As I mentioned several times throughout our live blog Saturday, I think Lashley would be a perfect fit for Strikeforce's growing stable of heavyweights. He is a proven draw and would help bring some extra attention to the organization.
I also think he can hang with some lower-level UFC fighters right now, but Lashley is making the right decision by picking up as much cage/ring time as possible, not to mention wins, before taking his career to the next level.
Was his fight against Bob Sapp lackluster? Absolutely. But credit Lashley and his American Top Team camp for deciding to take Sapp down right away and expose his weaknesses on the ground. Sapp openly said before the fight that he was looking to rush Lashley and knock him out, but he was never given a chance to do so.
"Going up against Bob," Lashley said after the fight, "you always expect the big bulls. I had to take him down, cover and pound. The first thing is to win: ground-and-pound to wear the big man down. He has a big punch. I used my ground-and-pound and got out of there."
At this point, while his opponents may not be the best in the business, all you can ask of Lashley is to win, and he is doing just that. Consider me impressed with the former WWE star.

I agree partially with you
Yes he should not be burning steps but I feel he is yet to fight a real challenge I find
Guida and cook are not heavyweights
and not the best fighters out there.
Sapp is not a real mma fighter.
I really hope he gets a real challenge.
Here are a couple names that are not in the UFC I would like to see challenge Lashley next
Buentello or Yvel would of been a good step up
Rothwell
Werdum
Monson
Lashley need to stop facing outclassed oponents
My 2 cents lol

Thats a very realistic list Frederick.I agree with all but Monson only because I think it would be boring.I would really like to see buentello vs Lashely or Rothwell.Big Ben would be a good test.He is fairly well rounded something Bobby needs to face.Instead of knowing exactly what is coming.
I guess he really is going to stay busy though.I know he said he wanted to fight alot a while back. But that is easier said than done.I wish him luck.

Woah... how about letting the guy develop a little. All those guys have fought a lot of very tough competition. Lashley may or may not be able to beat one of those guys but I think he's still too green.
He's doing the right thing by not rushing too much and risking his career. Look at Kimbo for example. Seth Petruzelli proved to be too much and he's not as dangerous as any of the heavyweights you listed.
A guy like Eddie Sanchez or Justin McCully would be perfect. Build him up like they built up Roger Huerta.

Suparaf,
You got a point. But,Lashley is not a young man. That is why he is fighting so often. He must move up in competition quickly if he ever wants to challenge the elite fighters. Not everyone will get the chance Brock got,nor could most capatalize on it the way he did.

So let me get this straight...were supposed to coddle Lashley? LOL.
Was Cain coddled when given Kongo as a competitor? As much as i dislike saying this, at least Dana understands his fighters require some measure of equal or near equal competition. Applying this logic, Lashley and his kindergarten level MMA should stick to the freakshow circuit.

I'm not tagging him a great MMA fighter until he does beat someone noteworthy and I dont believe suparaf is either. How Lashley moves up is his choice. He's getting experience and probably realizes he isnt good enough to beat the top fighters yet.
