Round 4: Another takedown from GSP! A double leg tackle. GSP gets into full mount. GSP almost went for an arm triangle choke on the ground but couldn't quite get it. And Alves takes advantage and gets on top for the first time in this fight. For the first time in years that GSP has been on his back. Alves with some good punches on top, and now he is hurting GSP for the first time in this fight. And GSP escapes and they're back to their feet. Good counter left hand from GSP. And GSP catches a kick, lands a punch and takes Alves down again! Wow. GSP is just a master tactician. GSP has Alves' back and he's trying for the rear naked choke. The round ends without GSP getting the choke in, but it's yet another round to GSP, 10-9.
Round 5: GSP told his corner between rounds that he pulled his groin. Alves comes out strong knowing he needs a knockout. Alves with a right punch. GSP with yet another takedown. Amazing. Alves gets back up and misses wildly with a kick. And now another takedown by GSP. And now Alves gets back up again with less than two minutes to go. And yet another takedown by GSP. I don't remember ever seeing any fight with this many takedowns. Call it a clean sweep, GSP 10-9.
Georges St. Pierre beats Thiago Alves by unanimous decision 50-45, 50-45 and 50-44 were the judges' scores.
Up next: Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir.
