Dan Henderson landed one of the most brutal knockout punches in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship when he knocked Michael Bisping out cold Saturday night at UFC 100.Throughout the fight, Henderson looked like he was just waiting to unleash one hard punch with his right hand, and after missing several times in the first round, he finally landed that punch in the second. The punch itself knocked Bisping unconscious, but Henderson jumped on him and landed yet another punch to Bisping's face before the referee could step in and stop it.
Bisping and Henderson have had a war of words as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, and Henderson said before the fight that he thinks Bisping talks too much. Afterward, Henderson clearly still felt that way. Said Henderson of that final punch while Bisping was on the ground, "That one was to shut him up."
Henderson is a former Pride champion who has the distinction of being the only MMA fighter to hold title belts in two weight classes simultaneously, and he showed at UFC 100 that he's on another level from Bisping, the Englishman who has been a major part of the UFC's European marketing strategy. Fortunately, Bisping woke up after a few moments being out flat on his back on the canvas, and he walked out of the Octagon on his own power.
Up next for Henderson could be a shot at the UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. Henderson lost to Silva once before, but with the punching power he displayed against Bisping, he's a threat to anyone.

He's not a fag, lol, but he's definitely annoying. I'm just glad one of the Elite in the Middleweight division showed the world (and the U.K. in particular) that Bisping is not among them. After losing in this fashion, where can he go? He already ran away from one weight division. He'll need to do some serious drawing board drawing . . .

Did anyone else think Bisping looked like he had trouble with the weight cut? He never looks that thin ... damn near sickly. Not only that but he had NOTHING to offer in that fight. Whether it was the weight cut, nerves or just being completely outclassed the fight ended exactly as I thought it would and as everyone should have expected ... Bisping getting knocked out viciously.
The crazy thing was that Henderson actually owned up to that extra shot after he knew he knocked him out. In that situation fighters usually try to play that kind of stuff off but he owned it. I loved it.
Henderson just shot up to one of my favorite fighters (always liked him) ... Dude is epic.

I did notice Bisping seemed like he was fatiguing towards the end of that fight. One thing is for certain... KO of the year candidate.

Well then its unanimous, Loved it, I loved it, I could watch it again... Bisbing getting knocked out is classic. I dont care what bisbings excuses will be, i know he will have plenty. Dan was the first real fighter he fought and he lost. Bisbing lost to Matt Hammel and the judges in UK still gave Bisbing the win, and Bisbing pretty much stayed away from american fighters. Now we know why. It will be a miracle if Bisbing fights another top fighter in America again. Anderson Silva and GSP would make him look stupid. Chuck Lidell, Rashad Evans, Keith Jardine. All of them would tear Bisbing up. I loved it good fight.

yeah i totally agree hamill got jobbed in the uk.
and i am glad hendo knocked him out, however, am i the only person that did not like the extra shot. hendo knew he was better than bisping and in retrospect i hope he acknowledges and kind of apologizes for that extra shot.
that type of viciousness is not good for the sport, especially mainstream-wise.
like i said, hendo knew he was better and did indeed prove it with his fists. if you see that punch again notice he basically wound up and got all of his body into that one, not a person on the planet would have been standing after that shot.(except maybe cain valasquez) so the extra shot was definately not necassary.

It's all emotion, Neo. Adrenaline was pumping, he hit him, he wound up, he swung down and connected. Might not've been necessary but it all happens so fast. And the best part was he owned up to it, like johnny stated above. Honestly I have no issue with it for the above reasons, plus Bisping had it coming. No ifs ands or buts about it.

We could could keep going around and around about the social and cultural factors that lead to Brock's and Dan's alleged misbehavior or just put it in context with three words to all the complainers, "get a life." This blog is about a sport where grown men get paid to beat-up on each other (and for P.C.) I'll include the few women in the sport. So, an extra punch or even two for insurance is not out of the ordinary. It was probably a reflexive response to Bispings head lolling or eyelids fluttering yeah, that's the ticket.

I just wish that Steve Mazagatti was the referee so that Hondo could have gotten 2 or 3 extra shots in. Bisping's next fight will be an untelevised prelim and nobody outside of the UK will miss him.
