Josh Barnett was supposed to have the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts career this weekend, a bout with Fedor Emelianenko that, had he won, would have made him the heavyweight champion of MMA. But Barnett isn't fighting this weekend, and in a brief phone interview with FanHouse Friday night, Barnett sounded upset and dejected while vowing to keep fighting the failed steroid test that led to his fight being called off. After news broke last week that Barnett had tested positive for an anabolic steroid, his fight with Fedor was canceled -- as was the entire Affliction Trilogy card. Barnett was clinging to hope that a second test of his urine (commonly referred to as the "B sample") would clear him, but on Friday the California State Athletic Commission revealed that the B sample came back positive, too.
I asked Barnett whether he had any reaction to the B sample coming back positive, and he answered, "Nope. Not yet."
Barnett understands that fans are upset they won't be seeing him fight Fedor, but he said he's not at a point where he can say anything to those fans.
"I wish I could," Barnett said. "But when you get involved in things like this, that's not really an option right now. So I have to just sit back and wait. Things will be released as fast as I can."
Barnett said he doesn't know what, specifically, he can do to fight the California State Athletic Commission's finding that he used performance-enhancing drugs. And at this point, there may not be anything he can do to get any American athletic commission to license him or any MMA promoter to do business with him: According to multiple published reports, this represents the third time Barnett has tested positive for steroids. In American sports, three-time steroid users are pariahs.
But Barnett said he and his representatives are not done trying to clear his name.
"I'm not sure," Barnett said when I asked him what else he can do to fight the positive test. "But I have people working on it."

All jokes aside, this guy doesnt even deserve to be printed about anymore. Multiple time steroid offender, who i had personally hoped had moved past, and caused A LOTTTTTTT of people to lose paychecks over his irresponsibility.
Go to Japan and vanish already, Baby Face.

Right because going to an obscure little 3rd world country that's hardly populated like Japan and having a very profitable career in Pro Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts is like vanishing from the face of the Earth isn't it?

Yes, RJ, its completely falling off the face of the earth when you pretty much crap all over a handful of qualified fighters who spent a lot of money training for an event that never occurred, dashing their ability to recover said money, and then whisk off to a world where they embrace steroid culture for a lucrative "pro wrestling" career, whatever the hell that means.
The fact that you almost believe Japanese MMA is on par with the tested US version is nearly laughable. That is, if it werent so sad. You honestly enjoy the fact that one guys ignorance hurt a group of fighters financially because he couldnt play by the RULES?
Cant take the heat fighting clean stateside? Then yes, vanish indeed.

Spoken like someone who's truly out of touch.
If you think steroid use isn't rampant among American athletes you better get your head out of the F#@king sand. Even guys who test clean can still be a user there are all kinds of ways to pass a drug test.
You're just another jack @SS who thinks that everyone else in the world holds this country in high regard, they don't.
They have their own lives there's a whole big world out there that could give less than a %#it what the average American thinks.
How the hell could you not know what a lucrative career in Pro Wrestling means?
How dumb are you. You don't think a man can make a very good living in Pro Wrestling? You can't be this dumb.
Apparently you are though because you use idiotic phrases like "world where they embrace steroid culture".
Right it's much better in this country where we embrace constant prescription pill popping, filling our fat faces with fast food and guzzling as much beer as you can drink.
What the hell is the tested American version of MMA compared to Japanese MMA mean? Never mind I'm sure your brilliant explanation will just follow in line with your previous asinine posts.
Get a clue buddy.

claytor, this actually goes out to rj, although i don't know whether he'll check back on this...
rj,
you're a little harsh here. and the truth is, that they don't test in japan and that makes a huge difference, (ex: paulo filho).
yes, it's true guys still juice here, however, they are clean for how many months it takes to pass through their systems.
and yes, some find ways of cheating the system.
but alot do get caught.
and yes, some are even on growth. which is undetectable.
and yes, CSAC is a strange commission.
steriods react differently from individual to individual that's why i'm okay with the testing system we have, compared to japan of non testing.
if someone has been off lets say for 5 months and can now test clean: yes, they will still keep some strength and muscle mass achieved through their cycle.
however, when someone is in the midst of a cycle their is definately a psychological effect that only happens when juice is in your system and these effect, affects different people differently. the best way i can describe it is on a primal animalistic level. hence, the term roid rage. and these rages can occur with a stressful situation. the user, for the most part controls these events from happening. however once in the ring or cage you can let that control down and the rage out.
roid rage is kind of rare, but tapping into that animalistic side is easier when one is in the midst of a cycle. steriods also produce happy moods too, through confidence, feeling strong and healthy. steriods also boost sex drive and stimulate your endorphines.
bottom line there is good and bad and not all steriod users are psycho maniacs looking to kill somebody.
there will always be abusers to everything, but the fact is we here in america for the most part do not embrace abusers....jeeze what am i talking about...i almost forgot how we (america) just glorified and deified micheal jackson.
okay then, so we are hypocrites.
the fact of the matter is, for sports:
ethics, fairness and integrity
should always be how we play,
so that everyone is on a level playing field.
unfortunately, that is why testing is necassary
and ultimately that is why testing is better than not testing.
someday, we will talk about why MLB has no integrity and i'm not talking about steriods.

RJ, perhaps it would help if you oh, i dont know, read the commentary before wigging out about how much a rasslin' supastah! makes.
Because the response isnt even about that. The response is about -wait for it- LEGITIMATE MMA. Yes, its far more legit here than overseas, or even Canada, both of whom dont even test in the first place, lol. Its why a veritable crap ton of former PRIDE fighters or Dream fighters wont even come here to compete, because theyd have to cycle down, or stop, and frankly, that would kill their "talent", so to speak.
We just sat here and joked about how they thought Arona could be a last minute replacement for the clown who was actually stripped of his UFC heavyweight belt, and how Arona might not even test negative to fight Fedor. Pretty sad commentary indeed about international fighting if i say so myself.
I dont care if Barnett makes oneeeeeee meeeeeellion dollarsssssssss mwah ah ah! over in Japan groping people while on the juice. My point is that when it comes to the face of the earth for TESTED MMA in the states, he may as well not even exist after the garbage hes pulled, time and time again.

You, "get a clue buddy." Just because you use a lot of curse words in your posts doesn't mean your tough or intelligent. In fact, some people would take it as prima facia evidence that you're the ignorant narrow-minded one.
