Former UFC light heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz has signed his bout agreement to fight former heavyweight champ Mark Coleman at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas.
Ortiz released a video Monday morning of himself taking viewers through a typical UFC bout contract before signing the papers and faxing it to the UFC.
UFC president Dana White first publicly mentioned the matchup as a possibility during a conference call on July 31 to announce Ortiz's return, but the bout agreements were finally sent to Coleman and Ortiz on Saturday.
"Tito Ortiz. Signed the contract. Got it done," Ortiz boasted in the video. "Now it's time to train and kick some [butt]. Don't call it a comeback, baby! Cause I'm going to get back my title."
Ortiz (15-6-1) resumed training late last month after being sidelined by back surgery last October. His last fight was a loss to current champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 in May 2008.
The 44-year-old Coleman (16-9) lost his 205-pound debut against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in January but bounced back with a unanimous decision against Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 in July.
i really liked the edgar/griffin fight. Egdar showed some really good transitions. i like stylistic matchups with wrestling, a good standup game or jj against a top wrestler. lessnar's 2nd fight with mir was good, lesnar learned to flaten the hips and it was a walk in the park for him. Both tito and coleman have lost a step. I didnt even think Coleman should have got the Fedor fight and that was a couple of years ago.
The only reason Tito is back is he's a draw. The ufc doesnt really have that great of lhw division in terms of depth of talent, imo. Lots of good fighters, but it's not like anyone in the top 10 to 20 (and certainly not the top 20 to 30) is going to make the jump to best p4p fighter, title contender maybe, but not a greatest.
imo, shogun is going to rule this division for awhile.
