Update: Kimbo Slice vs. Roy Nelson results.UFC fans will finally see Kimbo Slice inside the Octagon on the September 30 edition of The Ultimate Fighter, and when Spike shows Kimbo taking on former International Fight League heavyweight champion Roy Nelson, it will be one of the most-watched fights in the history of mixed martial arts.
The Kimbo vs. Nelson bout, which was announced at the end of this week's Ultimate Fighter, matches the man who might be America's most famous MMA fighter with the man who was widely regarded as the most accomplished mixed martial artist of this season on the UFC's reality show.
The fight already happened, but the UFC has done a good job of keeping the result from leaking, which means millions of fans are going to tune in with great anticipation to see whether Kimbo can defeat the toughest opponent he's taken on to date.
How big is this fight? Consider that Kimbo's win over James Thompson was the most-watched MMA fight in American history, with more than 7 million viewers, and his loss to Seth Petruzelli had more than 6 million viewers. Kimbo also delivered The Ultimate Fighter its biggest ratings ever for the Season 10 debut. Nelson, though nowhere near as famous as Kimbo, is well-known to hard-core MMA fans as the former IFL champion. And Nelson also reached some of the casual fans when he battled Andrei Arlovski on CBS on the Kimbo-Petruzelli undercard. This is by far the biggest fight ever to take place on The Ultimate Fighter.
If bets had been taken on this fight, Nelson would have been the odds-on favorite. If this fight had taken place in an arena, it would have been packed, and Kimbo would have been the fan favorite. Instead it took place on The Ultimate Fighter, and when it airs next Wednesday, the favorite will be Spike TV, which is guaranteed massive ratings for one of the most-watched fights in UFC history.

You know it's going to be a huge when they make a point to pick next weeks fight at the end of this weeks show.
Can't wait for the fight next week. This was the fight I wanted to see the most Kimbo vs Big Country.
This match up is a pleasant surprise and takes some of the sting away from the money I wasted on UFC 103.

yeah, going in you had to know ufc 103 was mediocre although aside from the main event it was decent, just not worth $45.
this episode will draw monster ratings...if kimbo can actually win here (which i highly doubt), i would stretch out his next fight to coincide with fedor/rogers. not that i would watch a tuf episode over that, but mainstream might.

I agree with you about the likeability of Kimbo, but there isn't a chance in hell that Kimbo beats Nelson. Kimbo won't last 1 round.

I have to agree, I'm impressed with Kimbo's humility and overall good personality. I thought he would be more like Brock Lesnar but I was pleasantly surprised.

These are all good thoughts & comments about how cool kimbo is, but lets not forget what he was on youtube-a master blaster of medium skilled street fighters with very little respect/concern to other fighters that were less then him. I feel better towards kimbo now that i see a different side-but still wondering who we are going to get next week. win or lose- i credit him for doing this show. thanks

No doubt Nelson has more experience. However, he looks so out of shape. If Kimbo can keep the fight standing, I say Nelson gasses out in the second round, and becomes a sitting duck for a Kimbo Slice knockout. Conversely, have you seen how in shape Kimbo looks compared to his older youtube videos? He looks shredded. I don't think he's going to have a problem gassing out. It looked like he was getting pretty good at getting people off of him too. If it stays standing, Kimbo wins.

i think kimbo gets ko'd. To me his jaw is suspect, and he certainly doesnt have a ground game. this should be a relatively easy night for nelson.
Kimbo slice is an excellent marketer, and obviously has more brains than talent.

Brian, a few things to point out Nelson looks out of shape but probably has one of the best cardio in the house all the fighters that have huge muscles like kimbo and wes Shivers which as you saw last episode gas pretty easily, and also yes he looks like he can geet out of bottom position easily in practice but yes its only practice, and Eric i do agree Kimbo wont make it very long but him winning against Nelson is just my hope

It is a joke to say that Kimbo is " America's Famous MMA fighter" He has had only one real MMA fight in which he lost bad. He has great stand up but he is still nothing more than a backyard brawler. Gracie, Couture, Lidell, those are true names in the MMA worl. NOT Kimbo SLice

I'm not a huge Kimbo fan but with the right trainers he could become a threat in the HWD. If he can develop sum ground skills he's definitly strong & looks to be agile & resonably quick. I would like to see him train w/ a good camp and see what he could become, if not in MMA, maybe boxing.

Kimbo is going to tap. They announced the fight early so they can get the maximum ratings out of Kimbo before he loses.

forget about how they match up. you know these shows are taped and very edited. the ufc knew how kimbo did before they decided to only show his face in 99% of all the promotions to this season. remember "edited" they added part of show 3 to the end of show 2 (like they allways do) but they never say who's fighting next week. know do ya think they did that so it would get more people talking cuz the rating's need a boost ? so the show's going great and its still kimbo getting most of the air time. kimbo is this season weather he wins or not. but know their telling us he fights next week so everyone knows to watch the last of the kimbo based episode's cuz the interest is going to shift to a terribly out of shape (downright flabby) ,un-coachable (they made sure we knew that this week)has-ben. well the ufc does strange things sometimes but i say no ff'in way......it might be a good fight, well see. but kimbo wins... if the ufc only wanted to milk out kimbo's popularity before he loses he wouldnt be fighting in week 3. vince mcmann wouldnt let it go down like that and neither will dana white. dont get me wrong i dont think there rigged but their gonna do a better job of putting the show together than that. ya see there's no rules, whatever's best for the company and mr.white has done, and will say anything to make sure of that, as we know...... now i dont think there enough clue's to figure out what going on in TUF but this seems like an easy one................ kimbo wins and sends a message, the next few weeks the show gets bigger and bigger waiting for kimbo to fight again. after that it wont matter and it will play out with a bigger fan base than ever.

man all of you guys talking crap about kimbo.. he's going to knockout nelson in the first round nelson is fat look at his beer belly! just notice the way he was punching while sparing!
and i read someones comment about kimbo's jaw... well im guessing you havent seen his videos! in one of his first videos you can see how he let a guy punch him straight on the jaw with full force and kimbo barely felt it!

the guy punching him may have been untrained but he was 6'1", 264 lbs, and very strong. and at that time kimbo was also untrained..he has worked very hard over the past couple years and has improved tremendously..i'm a huge fan of kimbo and always have been. i have complete confidence that he's going to beat nelson
