Sengoku middleweight champ Jorge Santiago will face Mamed Khalidov in a non-title fight and Kevin Randleman will take on Stanislav Nedkov at Sengoku 11 on Nov. 7 in Tokyo, World Victory Road announced today.Santiago (21-7), who last fought in January when he captured the Sengoku title over Kazuo Misaki, has been on a tear the past two years after leaving the UFC late 2006 on two knockout losses. Since, the American Top Team fighter has won Strikeforce and Sengoku tournaments and would have looked to extend his win streak to ten in August against Vitor Belfort until the cancellation of the Affliction "Trilogy" event.
Khalidov (19-3-1), who won 16 straight bouts with the exception of a draw, is a striker with an exciting style that was on display to an American audience when he stopped Jason Guida at a ShoXC event one year ago. In May, the Polish fighter followed up the Showtime-televised win with a first-round knockout over PRIDE Bushido veteran Daniel Acacio at a KSW event in Poland.
In a light heavyweight bout, Randleman (17-13), coming off a decision loss to Mike Whitehead in June at Strikeforce, faces Nedkov (7-0), an undefeated fighter out of Bulgaria who won his Sengoku debut in May by stopping UFC veteran Travis Wiuff.
Sengoku 11 Fight Card:
- Michihiro Omigawa vs. Hatsu Hioki
- Yuji Hoshino vs. Marlon Sandro
- Shigeki Osawa vs. Ronnie Ushiwaka
- Eiji Mitsuoka vs. Kazunori Yokota
- Satoru Kitaoka vs. Jorge Masvidal
- "Big" Jim York vs. Dave Herman
- Jorge Santiago vs. Mamed Khalidov
- Kevin Randleman vs. Stanislav Nedkov

so if this card was on ppv, you guys(ufc-haters), would actually pay to see this?
really?
although, i'm not bagging on watching it for free.
why do fans allow organizations to put on non-title fights?
and...kevin randleman? ......jeeze.
isn't this the same night as sf?

Mahmed Khalidov is worth watching this card all by himself. The guy is one of the absolute best fighters in the world and has one of the most dangerous arsenal of strikes of anyone in MMA.
Pull the those figurative UFC balls out of your mouth and stop playing up the UFC vs the world of MMA angle. Can't you talk about MMA in one thread without bashing every card and organization that isn't the UFC.
Marlon Sandro is another beast of a fighter and I can't wait to see him fight as well. It's just a great card up and down and a great night of fights I won't be forced to pay extra money for like the UFC card next weekend.
Also, the difference is that the UFC puts on almost exclusively PPVs and the majority of them (you've admitted this yourself) this year have been terrible. Stop crusading here especially when no one has said anything about the UFC. Are you that brainwashed?
For all the hype this new season of TUF has gotten it's also been pretty abysmal. It's obvious most of these guy are hacks that can't fight or ex-football players. There seriously hasn't been a good fight yet. I was so amped up for it this year as well but it's just been pathetic. In fact, the last two episodes that I DVR'd I just fast forwarded through all the fluff and watched the fights ... which were also terrible.
The thing is this Sengoku card and the Strikeforce card are both probably going to be just as good if not better than the Shogun vs Machida PPV next week. Thats saying something when the UFC (the gold standard in MMA) puts on over 13 PPV cards a year and you could pick maybe 7 fights total from all those to make one card worth paying $60 for ... I wish UFC PPVs were only $45 in my market but they actually cost me $60 freaking dollars!
Damn near all of the Ultimate Fight Night cards are just garbage anyway. Dana needs to get that network deal or start putting on better cards for free ... or just drop the price of the PPVs down to $20 like they used to be in the old days. Doesn't he know it's a recession and people don't want to pay that kind of money for substandard cards with one or two good matchups?
The only UFc card this year that was worth the money was the Couture vs Noguiera card ... that was an awesome card from top to bottom. The others have had one or two good fights on paper. Franklin vs Belfort? Meh. Penn vs Florian? Meh and Silva vs Griffin? meh. Those look good but they aren't competitive.
Whats wrong with Kevin Randleman? You'd rather see Tito Ortiz or Mark Coleman over Randleman? A run down Couture or Liddell? Two green heavyweights in Lesnar and Carwin fighting for the title? Seriously?

This is a nice card by Sengoku. Really looking forward to it.
neozoo:
1) This is a fight card we will be watching on HDNet, so to bring up PPV is dumb.
2) You don't need to be a "UFC Hater" to enjoy MMA outside of the UFC.
3) It is the same night, although this event is in Japan, so the Sengoku event will start when the Strikeforce event is done. Convenient, isn't it? :)

j,
i realize it's on hdnet and not ppv, i was just trying to make a point. that ufc haters are always bagging on having to pay $45 for a ufc ppv.
as of yet, there is no competition for the ufc in that department. however, my point is, that those same ufc haters are always saying how great other cards are. i'm just pointing out that if this was available on ppv how much honestly do you think it would be worth?
and i do love and enjoy all credible mma outside of the ufc, i especially love the wec, eventhough it is really ufc-lighter. it still is different.
unfortunately, i don't get hdnet, but if i did i would definately watch those events.
like i said i enjoy all credible mma.....not anything m-1 puts on solely by themselves.

johnny,
yeah, you make some really good points.
tuf sucks so far.
and yeah sometimes i bring ufc up, out of context.
i'm sort of trying to make a point here and there in defense of the business side of things.
dude, you're paying $60.....ouch!
can't you find some friends to invite over to help alittle.
i hope you're wrong about ufc 104, cause i'm really jacked for this card-top to bottom.
then again, people get enjoyment out of watching for different reasons.
some are just happy to see their favorite fighters fight regardless of whom they are fighting.
like i've said before, i like to watch when i'm not sure of the outcome. or should i say when the winner will be easily predetermined.
that's the reason i hated ufc 101 and also why i think sf's card is just a showcase for fedor and mousasi. which is actually okay in my book as well. because it's free.
randleman? definately, is a has been.
i still think to this day, that he was robbed in his fight with bas and that, that decision took the soul right out of his career.
unfortunately, he is not very credible these days.
maybe, he can resurrect himself. but, i think his age will stop that from ever happening.
lastly, please answere me....
what is the deal with these non-title fights?
as a fan i think it is total bs.
again, if dana tried this his balls would be out of my mouth and being squished in your hands.

Yeah I'm a huge huge huge fan of Khalidov (go watch his fight against Guida online in EXC) and Santiago is also a straight up bad ass but why this isn't a title fight is beyond me. Maybe a weight issue or maybe not. It's still a compelling fight as Santiago is also a straight up bad ass.
Yeah I usually have three people that come over and watch the UFC PPVs and they all throw down $10 or so bucks which softens the blow. But, I'm an MMA junkie and those guys can't watch the PPVs every few weeks/month so sometimes I just pay for it and my fiance and I watch it together.
I can understand just wanting to see your favorite fighter but as a fan of BJ Penn I want to see him fight someone who can match his talent instead of guys like Florian and Sanchez who aren't even in the same stratosphere. But, it's hard to find guys to matchup with Penn, GSP & Silva right now because they are so dominant in their weight classes. I still think that Penn is going to completely outclass Sanchez like he did Florian. Sanchez fights much to wreck less and he can't exchange punches with Beej like he did against Guida. Sanchez is another guy in a long line of UFC title challengers that hasn't earned their shot. Sanchez, Belfort, Carwin nor Shogun legitimately earned their title shot with consecutive victories in the octagon ... look what Jon Fitch had to do to get his shot (what 7 wins in a row?) ... Hell I still don't think Lesnar earned his title shot but whatever.
As far as Randleman - I agree with you he got absolutely jobbed in that fight against Bas Rutten. That was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen. I still remember watching it (after it had happened) knowing the outcome ahead of time and wondering when Rutten was going to do something. He spens damn near the whole fight on his back! This is from a guy that love Bas and hell I even have a signed framed poster of him in my man cave.
I'd like to see Ryan Bader fight a big time fighter like a Rashad, Thiago Silva, Franklin to see what the kid is made of because I think he is a beast. I think a Badver vs Vera would have been a way better fight than Couture vs Vera. I'm saying it now and I know people won't like it -- Brandon Vera is going to pick Randy Couture completely apart. Vera knows that if he wins that fight he will be back into relevancy like he used to be when he was a HW title contender.
Here you go ... you can watch most of Khalidov's fights
http://mmavideolinks.to/fighter-videos/311-mamed-khalidov-.html
Jorge Santiago

Marlon Sandro

Sandro and his violent style kind of reminds me of Jose Aldo. Speaking of Jose Aldo he is becoming one of my favorite fighters in all of MMA. That site above (the mmavideolinks) has links based on the fighters names so you can see literally any fight you want to see.

johnny,
i've seen both khalidov and santiago before, yeah, they're decent, however, to me they are still b-leaguers and that's okay. i guess i'm sometimes harsh on what i consider to be just under so-called ufc quality. and that is definately a deficiency on my part.
i've never seen sandro....so i'll keep an eye on him.
yeah, you know i love the wec. and jose aldo looks really impressive. his fight with brown should be awesome. i know you don't really care for brown, but, he is one of my favorites.
i think wec cards lately have been fantastic and really imo, have from top to bottom been the best.
as far as bader, i really like him as well.
i also like his opponent schafer. i am so glad they are showing this one on spike.
seriously, don't overlook schafer. whoever wins this one will definately get moved up on the ufc's chart.
and the vera/couture should be interesting. i like vera, too. i'm just really not sure if this should actually be the lone main event. i'm glad it's free, because i wouldn't pay for this one.
although you never know this might turn out to be a great night of fights.
