UFC 104: Joe Stevenson TKOs Spencer Fisher With Brutal Elbows

Joe Stevenson landed elbow strike after elbow strike to Spencer Fisher's head in the second round of their lightweight battle at UFC 104, opening up a bad cut over Fisher's eye and beating him by TKO.

In the first round Stevenson opened a cut over Fisher's right eye, and blood streamed down into the eye for much of the round. The round wasn't particularly eventful, but Stevenson clearly won it, both in the exchanges on their feet and, especially, by landing a series of strikes on the ground late in the round.

Stevenson continued to control in the second, taking Fisher down and landing a bunch of elbows from the top, opening the cut again. Eventually Stevenson picked up the pace of the elbow strikes, and referee Herb Dean had to step in and stop it.

"My little sister and big sister used to team up on me and do that when I was little," Stevenson joked of the ugly-but-effective way he finished the fight.

After the fight Stevenson credited coach Greg Jackson for improving his fighting skills, and there's no question that he has: Stevenson has now won two straight since starting to train with Jackson after losing two straight before he started training with Jackson.

Stevenson improves his pro MMA record to 31-10. Fisher falls to 23-5.
