It has been rumored for some time, that Vitor Belfort will challenge Anderson Silva for the middleweight title at UFC 108 on Jan. 2. And while Silva's recent elbow surgery might have put a wrench in those plans, UFC president Dana White told FanHouse last week that he hopes the title fight can still be put together.Recently, middleweight contender Nate Marquardt told HDNet's Inside MMA that he didn't think Belfort deserved the shot so soon after returning to the UFC, and when FanHouse asked "The Phenom" about this, he surprisingly agreed. "I didn't look for the fight. Actually, I would like to have a couple more fights," he said. "I think [Marquardt] deserves it."
Check out the video interview below.

Vitor is a good guy.
I hope that the UFC puts him in the ring with Silva next. Does Vitor deserve the title shot considering that he has never fought at 185 in the UFC? NO, but it's the most intriguing fight at IMO.
Vitor vs Anderson
Hendo vs Marquardt (winner gets next title shot)

As soon as Vitor vs Silva was rumored to take place, Belfort shot up in a lot of people's top 10 MW lists which i think is funny considering he has only two fights at that weight. Gotta give him credit for admitting that Nate deserves it, takes a lot to say something like that, especially in the MMA business.

That type of honesty and humility is why this guy is going to have me as a fan for life. I think Vitor deserves a title shot for what he has done leading up to comin back to the UFC but it's still refreshing to hear the guy give Marquardt the credit he deserves.

I couldnt agree with you more, you hit the nail on the head. I too am a Belfort fan for life because of that two minute interview. I'm forty one years old and i remember the old Vitor wow what a difference the years have made. Win or lose he will always be a winner and a champion in my book. Hey Brock take notice of a champion without a belt.

Vitor may also want a couple more paydays. He would be crazy to run straight to Silva, much more money in the build up.He may also want to actually try out 185 first. This should be a great fight though.
