When UFC President Dana White criticizes Fedor Emelianenko's decision to fight on M-1 Global and Strikeforce co-promoted cards instead of fighting in the UFC, he likes to say it's proof that Fedor doesn't want to fight the best on a consistent basis.

Fedor Emelianenko demonstrated once again last weekend that he is the best heavyweight in mixed martial arts, beating a game Brett Rogers by second-round TKO on CBS.

Meanwhile, the UFC's heavyweight division is reeling: Champion Brock Lesnar is battling a serious illness, No. 1 contender Shane Carwin is recovering from a knee injury, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is suffering from staph infection. So while the UFC still has most of the Top 10 heavyweights in MMA, Dana White can't feel great about the heavyweight division right now.

Fedor Emelianenko Says His Hand and Nose Are Fine

Dismissing reports that he suffered a broken nose and a serious hand injury in beating Brett Rogers on Saturday, Fedor Emelianenko said in an interview this week that neither injury was serious and he'll be back soon.

Speaking to Loretta Hunt of Sherdog.com, Fedor said he didn't break his nose and that his hand injury is much less serious than has been reported, and that he won't be out four to six months as was feared. Video below.

CBS Likes Strikeforce Demographics, but Will MMA Return?

The early ratings are in for CBS's Saturday night MMA show, and although the numbers aren't as good as the network did last year with Kimbo Slice, CBS executive Kelly Kahl tells FanHouse he's encouraged that CBS improved on its usual Saturday night ratings among the coveted young male demographic.

Now the question is whether MMA will improve to CBS in 2010. Kahl said it's too soon to say about that, but that a significant improvement in the targeted demographic means CBS accomplished its first goal. Kahl noted that MMA on CBS beat college football on ABC in the demographic.
